Sewing Tutorial: Sew French Seams

French seams are a type of seam finishing used in sewing where the raw edges on the inside are totally encased in an extra row of stitching, so no raw edge is visible and create and clean and professional finish.

This finishing is used most commonly on sheer fabric, or when the fabric is too delicate to overcast the seam allowance to prevent raveling, but it can be used on any fabric where you want to enclose the seam allowance and keep a soft edge.

Some might feel too intimidated to attempt French seams, but once you understand the steps, it is fairly easy to sew. Check out our tutorial below to start sewing French seams. The video covers the instructions on configuration settings for your machine so you could sew the perfect seam.
