What you will make:
The Suri Kebaya is a modern take on the classic kebaya—elegant, flattering, and designed for everyday wear. Featuring princess seams for a slimming silhouette that gently accentuates the body’s natural curves, and 3/4-length slightly flared sleeves for ease and comfort, this kebaya balances heritage details with modern practicality.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the essential techniques to construct a beautifully fitted kebaya with clean finishing.
Patterns for bust size 80cm to 104cm are available. (Please get in touch with us first prior to registration if your measurements do not fit the bust size above.)
What you will learn:
- Fabric layout and cutting
- Constructing a kebaya shawl collar
- Sewing princess seams
- Attaching sleeves
Suitable for: Anyone who loves and/or wants to learn how to sew. Beginners are welcome
Things You Need to Bring Along:
- 2 1/4 yards x 60" woven fabric OR 3 yards x 45" woven fabric (more if the pattern needs matching). Recommended: poplin, broadcloth
- Matching thread
- Lightweight fusible interfacing
- 6 pairs of 8mm press studs/ sew-on metal snap buttons
All other sewing tools & equipment will be provided at the class.
A soft copy of the pattern (with all sizes) will also be emailed to you after the class.
